High St Edit: Scandal

I've been having some serious withdrawal symptoms from the lack of Scandal my life only to find out there are new episodes out and I'm just late to the party... as usual.

When I started watching this, all I could think was FINALLY!!! A black woman playing a character other than the token black woman. Kerry Washington hasn't been cast as a mouthy ghetto gal and she isn't the main character's best friend. She's a freaking GLADIATOR!

If you don't get my references, you haven't watched the show. If you haven't watched the show, you need to get ooon thaat!! I've been watching Homeland to fill the Pope shaped hole in my heart but it's just not the same. Like seriously... where are all the good clothes?!

I know Liv, it stresses me out too...
"I like... how you always seem to be wearing white"- A line from Jake's I-love-you-Olivia speech. Well I love it too so I thought it was about time I did a High Street take on a the classic Olivia Pope look.

Wide Leg Pants- MOTELROCKS £39
Necklace- TOPSHOP, £6.50

If you're a student, don't forget to sign up to UNiDAYS!! Get discounts like 20% off Motel Rocks, 15% off Pretty Little Thing and 10% off ASOS...

Get me a white swimsuit! I want to be her...

Stay beautiful (like super babe, Kerry Washington) and come back soon!!

OOTD: Blue with Bershka

Spent this weekend at home in Essex with my little sister where we ate Chinese until we ached, watched films made for old timers (The Second Best Marigold Hotel- loved it!) and forced her to take an outfit pic for me. I saw a chance. I took it.

Got this new coat from the Bershka Sale for only £19.99!! Was in need of a coat with zip-up pockets because, losing my dear phone, I'm not taking any more risks. Love the colour so much.

The sun actually made a slight appearance this weekend. Thought I'd take the chance and rock some £1 Primani sunnies.

I love this top with a passion. We held a swap shop at my church back in Aberdeen where you could bring some clothes and then fill a bag for only £3. This thick short sleeved crop top still had the tag on and all!

Neoprene Jacket- BESRSHKA, £19.99
Croptop- TOPSHOP (thrifted/ swap shop)
Jeans- LEVI, $15 I think...
Backpack- PRIMARK, £8
Trainers- PRIMARK, £12
I'll be back soon with a High St edit of a fave show of mine.
Stay beautiful!

Welcome to London

Hey there,

So this is a short post in a different style to usual. I'm doing what blogging was created for... venting on an online diary.

I have recently started a super cool placement at Motel Rocks PR office in London and am so happy I had this to keep me upbeat and grateful whilst everything else went horribly wrong...

You know those days when you wake up thinking, "This is going to be a good day! My make-up's looking good, I'm feeling good- Its got to be a good day. Right?"

Wrong.

It was a day of travel mishaps and Oyster mess-ups that led to, and followed, the misfortune of losing my phone. When you forget your phone at home it's always that feeling of missing a piece of yourself. It's terrible but my phone is literally an extension of me and I don't even have the excitement of being reunited with my love when I get home. It's either lost or stolen. My aunt said i've been 'baptised by London'. Oh well. It can only go up from here.

One thing this series of unfortunate events has taught me is to BACK UP EVERYTHING! Sorry it's not a lesson with some deeper meaning but seriously, Dropbox is your friend guys! If only I'd accepted this fact before my photos from the past 2 years floated away into the unknown abyss that is Central London.

Anyway, stay beautiful... even if you can't post a selfie on instagram.

Still smilin' #ipadselfie

Finding Fashion: Sade Farrell

 Evening all!

So I had a wee chat with the lovely Miss Sade Farrell following her appearance at Clothes Show Live as an ASOS Graduate winner. Check her out on Facebook , Instagram.

 Sade Farrell Designs

 1) How long have you been creating clothes for?
I started designing for my own label when I left university in July 2013 so I have been designing for just over a year but before that I was continuously designing and making collections for uni projects and competitions.

2) What sparked your interested in fashion design?
I have always loved clothing mainly high street fashion and when I realised that I could take my creative ideas and turn them into garments it made me want to pursue my interest further.

3) What’s your favourite fashion trend and why?
I love printed outfits. I think that you could take the most simple of silhouettes and add a colourful print onto it and it could all of a sudden turn into the most unique outfit you have ever seen.

4) Describe your brand in 3 words.
Unique, Vibrant and Bold

5) The collection you presented at Clothes Show Live 2014 had quite a primal vibe, featuring a lot of leopard print- a personal love of mine. Where do you find your inspiration?
My inspiration can stem from anything. Mainly, it comes from current events that are going on in the world. I could be looking at something and then, from that, I would have hundreds of ideas going on in my head. The collection that was sold at the Clothes Show this was inspired by African culture.

6) So the Clothes Show Live is the biggest event you've been a part of so far. How did you get the opportunity and how did you feel about that experience?
I was given a stall at the Clothes Show because I entered and won the ASOS Marketplace clothes show live graduate competition. I was so happy when I found out that I’d been chosen as one of the winners, it made me realise that professionals in the industry were seeing and liking my collections- it was also a great opportunity to network and meet people.

7) What do you have in store for your next collection?
To be honest, I haven't really been thinking about my next collection yet as I'm still getting orders for my current one but the next will be full of colour and for the summer.

8) When will we be able to buy your gorgeous pieces!?
I am hoping for the ASOS Marketplace boutique to launch by the end of January, it would have been sooner but I sold out of all my best sellers at the clothes show so I have had to put everything back into production again!

A happy customer looking #onpoint
“I am so grateful to all my friends and family who have supported me and helped me to make it to the Clothes Show- without them, this would not be possible. They all have dedicated so much time to help me achieve this.

“To anyone who is aspiring to start their own clothing line or study a fashion degree I would say just go with it. It can be one of the hardest things you ever do but it is so rewarding when you have that final collection placed in front of you.”

Well that's all for now!
Stay beautiful,

OOTD: Ghetto Goth

It was another gloomy day in Aberdeen (surprise, surprise...) so I went for a slightly grunge, 90's inspired look. However if you add gold hoops, a chain, geld down baby hairs and a top bun on a black girl, you get an awfully ghetto look. Who cares. I'm owning it.

Crochet Maxi Dress- H&M £10
Monochrome Backpack- Primark £8

Extras
Gold Hoop Earrings- Miss Selfridge
Gold Lion Necklace- eBay
Staple 'Go-to' Ankle Boots- Office

OOTD: Pine to the Apple

Just a wee 'outfit of the day' post from Friday. My fellow Fashion Management student and friend, Claire, has agreed to be my photographer! Aww yeeah! Unfortunately Friday was such a windy and grey day so it wan't the best circumstance but, somehow, she made it work.

Watch this space for more lovely OOTD pics and check out Claire's photo blog for beautiful landscape shots, light drawings and me boogying like a mad woman.

I'm constantly dancing in pictures...

Pineapple Print Skirt- Primark, £2
